Join our team

We’re pleased to say that PCL Contracting is a great company to work for. We really do put our people at the centre of the business and our great team is dedicated to bringing the best to our customers. We have a dedicated training programme, a wellbeing programme so we can ensure our people are physically and mentally strong. There are always opportunities to join our team and if you would like to work with a company that wants to see you succeed get in touch for an informal chat.

Developing our people is important. We understand that without personal and professional growth, people become disengaged and our training programme provides opportunities for people to develop their skills and knowledge. Everyone receives appropriate training in First Aid, Constructsafe, Confined Spaces and many more.

We want to help people succeed and our training provides new employees – regardless of their experience – the opportunity to progress and develop within the company, allowing us to promote from within.

We run apprenticeships – currently we have two apprentice drainlayers and during their two year course they will be required to complete a number of theory assessments as well as being able to complete practical work on site.

Apprentices complete several weeklong block courses during the course of their studies to ensure their understanding, skill and quality of work is meeting the course requirements.
We constantly look for potential – for example, we recently identified six employees who will undertake external long-term training over the next 12-24 months and we will continue to invest each year into new training and development for employees.

We want to know that when our people come to work, they are happy and healthy, which is why we invest in their mental and physical wellbeing.

They say that time is the hardest thing to give a person but time is not an issue at PCL Contracting as the first pillar of our culture – communication – ensures that time is given regularly to all employees by our leadership team and Norm, the keeper of our culture.
This means that employees have a chance to raise any issues, discuss their future prospects, get feedback on their work, share their ideas – or just have a general discussion.

Our Employee Assistance Programme is offered free of charge to all staff and their families as a counselling service to help when needed.

The work we do is physical and demanding and to help ensure those body niggles are taken care of quickly, we use the services of TBI Health to provide physiotherapy that provides long term support rather than a quick fix.

We always go above and beyond for our people – they are our most important asset and we do our utmost to support them.
